Our Mission

Who We Are

Many schools in the developing world face the enormous challenge of learning without adequate resources.

Even if students the Caribbean are fortunate enough to make their way to a local classroom, their learning experience typically excludes textbooks or appropriate reading materials. In many cases, classrooms may have a single textbook available for use by the teacher alone.

Children in Ontario have a funded educational system that is ranked amongst the best in the world. These students benefit from use of technology, and a steady influx of new and updated resources due to constant development of best teaching practices and motivated teachers who are able to use current materials and technology. Having access to resources-rich libraries within their own neighborhoods and the Internet gives our citizens an enormous advantage.

Our mission is to connect Ontario schools (that have under-utilized or outdated books and resources in storage or intended to be recycled) with under-resourced schools in the Caribbean.

As donors, Ontario students make an immediate impact in the lives of other learners thousands of miles away. We have moved forward from the one room schoolhouse to a new, socially responsible OneWorld Schoolhouse.

OneWorld Schoolhouse Foundation is dedicated to improving literacy rates in support of the universal right to education.
